Healing Internal Divisions

Achieving Inner Peace with Easily Accessed MediSounds® Sound Meditation

“As different as night and day.” That expression obscures an obvious truth: Night and day may be opposites but they each are part of a single whole, which together comprises one day. And so it is with us; we are each composed of different aspects (body, mind, spirit) that are often at odds with each other, yet we are one person. How can we realize this Oneness, this joyous truth of unity? We can connect through the mystery of that which underlies all creation…specific vocal sounds that we make with our own voice that remind us that despite internal conflicts, we are one.

We know how to accomplish so many impressive things; the conquest of deadly illnesses, the exploration of outer space, the harnessing of the sun’s energy, the development of Artificial Intelligence and so on, but inner peace eludes us.

This should come as no surprise. We each hold significant competing forces within ourselves, along with various competing narratives about the world around us. We each seek to be true to who we really are, while at the same time seeking the acceptance and praise of others.

And often, when we are trying to get an accurate understanding of things and a sense of the right way to proceed, it is as if we are seated at a Thanksgiving table with a large group of relatives, teachers, and friends, all promoting their own conflicting points of view, actively vying for our attention and acceptance.

Throughout our lives we are constantly subduing one side of ourselves or another, hoping to quiet our inner tension and find peace. But the suppressed side doesn’t just go away, and it invariably calls out loudly for recognition. The challenge is to integrate all aspects of our being, while giving each one its due.

The mystical writings of the Kabbalah offer a system that identifies the 10 energy centers that comprise our inner and outer worlds. Arranged in a specific pattern on our bodies, called Adam Kadmon (Primordial Man) this constellation of forces provides a roadmap to navigate our inner and outer conflicts.

Each of the 10 energy centers that the Kabbalah identifies has a specific vocal tone associated with it, and by chanting that sound with your own voice, along with specific intentions, you will have a powerful tool to dispassionately examine arguments on both sides of your competing desires and inclinations.

A good place to start experiencing inner unity, calm and the support of the abundant universe is by concentrating on your solar plexus. The solar plexus is the seat of wholeness in the Kabbalistic system. It is where reconciliation of opposites resides.

Focus your intention to pitch the rounded sound of O directly through your solar plexus as if it is your mouth. It helps to put your hand over your solar plexus to help you guide the vibration. Gently and calmly repeat the sounds in multiples of 3, resting in between each cycle. You should feel immediate benefit. The vibrations can have a transformative long-term effect on your psyche if you repeat the practice with discipline and commitment daily.
